TRANSPORTATION AND THE LOGISTICS OF AGGREGATES

ONCE a client has decided on the particular materials (aggregates) required, mode of transportation will depend on the terrain of the location or site.

By Truck

Transporting aggregate by road is simple and economical.

At Two-One Venture, we prefer trucks and they must be covered with tarp (tarpaulin sheet cover) as this helps to reduce the possibility of chips of granite falling off the trucks while on the road for delivery.

It also prevents the scattering of dust while trucks are on the road. Our trucks carrying capacities range from 15 to 30 tons in a single go.

By Rail

Aggregates are also transported by rail and this method should be much more economical when compared to the truck transportation. Unfortunately, this mode of transportation is not popular in our part of the world.

By Water

Very large volume of aggregates can be carried more efficiently using water transportation. 150 tons at a go is possible. The use of hopper or flat deck barges comes handy. Some large barges have the capacity to carry both aggregates and the truck together, as a form of transitional carrier, across a body of water to islands where trucks and goods (aggregates) are delivered for onward final delivery to client's location.
